My journey began in a crowded 60-square-foot unit within a seven-story resettlement building. In that cramped reality, I learned early on that life was an endless climb, and the only abundance we knew was the pressure to survive.

I watched my parents sacrifice their youth just to keep us fed, and I repaid that sacrifice the only way I knew how: by working just as hard.

"I built a house, but I lost the home."

I believed that to be a provider, I had to be a ghost—constantly working, building, failing, and starting again. In my rush to protect my family from the poverty of my past, I became an absent figure at my own dinner table.

I provided for a family I barely knew, missing the years my son grew from an infant into a man. This is why Emoottoo exists.
